- Tesla will increase the price of its fully self-driving software by $3,000 to its new price of $15,000.
- This increase in price happened due to the release of the new updated FSD software version 10.69.2, which costs more due to the addition of many new features.
- This is the third time Tesla has increased its price, doing it once before this year alone.
Tesla has decided to increase the price of its Fully Self-Driving (FSD) software by $3,000 – its biggest hike so far. The current price of the FSD is $12,000. This will subsequently be increased to $15,000 on 5th September 2022. You can still buy this at its current price until the date above arrives.
This update on the increase in price came after Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk tweeted about it on the 21st of August. One of the main reasons for this increase in price has to do with the new features being added to the software. In addition, the global shortage of semiconductors has made it difficult for Tesla to produce the FSD in large numbers.
This is the third time the price of the FSD has been increased since its launch. When this product was first launched in 2020, it came with a price tag of $5,000. However, the autopilot feature was then sold separately for $7,000. The two were soon combined together and sold for $12,000 in early 2022. This makes the price of this product increase for the second time this year.
It is interesting to note that this price change will be only in North America for now. This will be sold in other global regions at the current price since they receive autopilot updates later after its NA release.
